FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

It detects antibodies produced in response to Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi infections, helping in the diagnosis of typhoid and paratyphoid fevers.

It is performed when a patient has prolonged fever, abdominal discomfort, or other symptoms suggestive of typhoid fever, especially in endemic areas.

Fasting is not required for this test.

Results are typically available within 15 hours.

Risks are minimal. Blood collection may cause slight pain, bruising, or discomfort at the puncture site.

Elevated titers of TO and TH antibodies suggest a possible current or recent typhoid infection. However, results must be interpreted in the context of clinical symptoms and may require comparison with a second sample taken after a few days (paired testing).
